WMG Sees Premium Pricing On Apple's iTunes
Variable pricing would take all the convenience out of using iTunes. There is no way an album should cost more than $10 when there are no product costs!

A CD is $13 or $14. You mean to tell me that it costs less than $3-$4 to produce, ship, etc...?

I think established artists should, if possible, go direct to iTunes and leave these WMG types to think about their contribution to the industry.

AAPL Smartphone Shows the Way to Competitors
iPhone is not just about PHONES. It's about personal computers and media as well. Look at what iPod+iPhone is doing to the computer market, when coupled with Apple's excellent moves of late (moving to Intel processors now that they are best of class) etc...

And software development? Companies are making more off iPhone apps, at $5 a pop, than they were making selling boxed software for YEARS because so many more people are buying, and there is no marketing or distribution costs whatsoever. And Apple is profiting very handsomely, which, among many other things, is off the wall street radar even now.

iPhone vs. Netbook: Which Will Be the Biggest Gaming Machine?
The problem with "prexisting technology" is that few companies, other than Apple, do anything remotely intelligent with it.

      For example, "Microsoft Surface".

Apple is rapidly taking this market. You have to be kidding that the Google phone is 'looking better'. In what way? No specifics there? Get real, there is no competition, iPhone is a far better device.

Netbooks are just for nerds. Sure, lots will try to play games on them, but they will go back to their windoze XP and X-box, it's not going to be a factor in sales of 'net books'. People are buying those little PCs, but they look like make-up cases, and are no easier to carry, really, than a laptop.

iPod touch is the most incredible device, and the games are just a part of it.

Will the iPhone Be Taken by Storm?
Storm is such an obvious rip-off. No applications for it, either. And I guess if you don't like music, don't care about movies, don't care about applications, then you wouldn't miss iTunes.

And don't worry, no one will ask you if it's an iPhone, it's way too ugly to be an iPhone.

A Sign of the Times: Macs on Sale
Far from an 'unjustifiable premium' Apple products are a fantastic value for the money. Guess again psuedo economist.

And yes, there is always a sale on Apple stuff at this time of year, and always a deal offered at back-to-school, as well as father's day, and year 'round college discounts, church school discounts, etc...

Apple seems to be one of the least impacted by the economic downturn because it's customers are usually either professionals or kids, etc... The products for kids are not going to be denied nearly to the extent of 'luxury' items such as jewelry.

Stocks like Wal-Mart go up in these difficult times. But what person at this point has not taken the joy of downloading an album, at a discount, directly onto their iPods, which can also be burnt to disk, beamed to your stereo/TV, etc... all for LESS THAN IT COSTS AT WALMART.

You people who think Apple is going down in this downturn are just stupid.

Apple Falls Flat as Market Rebounds - Is There Really Investor Confidence?
AAPL got a nice rally today so far. I don't see it going much lower, even in the short term. And anecdotal though it is, I am seeing many more iPhone's in use all the time, and not just among the well heeled. It's quite remarkable that a product so much better than the competition is available at the same price as the wanna-be products such as the storm.

And I am seeing more kids with iPhone. Just wait until it is more common to make FREE phone calls with the touch from wifi hotspots. This is working and there is no need to jailbreak the iPod. Sales for iPod are looking quite good for years, and iPhone and Macs. I believe the big money is going to want in as soon as a trend begins upward which is going to happen at some point, probably after the inauguration.

Each Time I See Google's Android Pitch I Like It Less and Less
A lot of PC nimrods thought Google's phone would play out against Apple's original product the same way MS stole Apple's Mac OS bacon.

There are some problems with this though. First of all, the Google phone is not a product any normal person would want. That is a big problem. Secondly, it is APPLE that has the reputation as being a great computer manufacturer, not Google. Google is respected, but this is not going to carry into the device arena. People are not so stupid as to be able to look at the two devices and see which one is clearly better--the iPhone.

Microsoft took much of the GUI computer market (which quickly became the entire market) because they had firstly the IBM name to stand behind, and from that point on, they had more development.

Finally, Apple is light years ahead of the Google-phone in terms of the availability of software.

Zach, at first you tried to make it sound like you were trying to 'save' investors when you first started 'warning' about the economy and about Apple (while professing to be a fan of the company).

Now you don't seem to bother with that, you just insist that it must go lower. Why?

The U.S. has a lot of companies in trouble, including a lot of tech companies such as Microsoft, RIM, and Yahoo. Apple on the other hand is a solid company, that has had success after success, even in this current market. Why not talk down a company that has real problems with it's business? Such as a company that has a new operating system that no one wants (vista), a mobile phone OS that no one wants (windows mobile?) rather than a company such as Apple's who's products are in great demand. (iPhone, OS X Leopard)

Can you not make as much money shorting other companies that are more easily understood (because they really don't have much technology).

      Apple's Greatest Idea Yet
Apple's status has gone from a virtual nothing to a media darling in the past few years.

But I think the iPhone will put them into another category within the next six months.

iPod touch is brilliant in that it's contributing a great deal to the app store success. Still a few apps require iPhone, such as the amazing new google mobile app for iPhone. And internet everywhere is very cool, as is not paying for that with iPod. You can have the app store either way, and I don't see nintendo, msft, sony, competing with Apple.

People simply won't pay $60 for a game when they can get it for $5-$10 on the app store.

      Dell's Got a Demand Problem
'Everyone' does not have a demand problem like Dell has a demand problem. In fact, in Apple's recent statement, Mac sales are UP. Look, just buy a generic motherboard, power supply, graphics, case, etc... It's the SAME THING you get from Dell, which is the same as any other generic PC. And they ALL are SLOWER than Mac, and look 10 years older.

Tech May Be a Wreck, But This Isn't 2001
Apple is stealing Microsoft's bacon. 'Enterprise' has gone Mac already, it's just not hit the CW yet. Just wait for the next earnings release.

There is a pattern with Apple products. Everyone on the 'street' dismisses them universally, until they become phenomena. Then the 'street' questions if they can ever come up with another mac/ipod/iphone, etc... Then the next game changer comes out and the cycle repeats itself. Eventually attitudes change, but that change is glacial.

iPhone has totally redefined the 'smart' phone as we know it. Same as the Mac did to the old fashioned DOS based computer, same as the iPod did to mere 'MP3 players'.

      Dell: Absurdly Cheap
I think Dell could very easily go bankrupt. As cash strapped as they are, they offer NOTHING to the generic PC computer user. It's simple to eliminate Dell, just do the same thing they do--buy cheap, generic parts, plug them together in any ugly box you can find.

I'd rather buy a company that offers something no other company can match, and one that is in good shape financially. Also, one with more markets than just computers. Especially in these times.

Alternative Energy Storage: Cheap Will Beat Cool
Another way to summarize your Apple Microsoft comparison would be that in this decade, an MSFT investment is worth about HALF what it was in 1999, while an APPLE investment is worth about SEVEN TIMES what it was in 1999.
