Smart homes, televisions, cameras – of course there are new developments in the relevant categories every year at the IFA. Sound and Vision: During our tour, Part 3, we show you rather exciting products that have pleased us visually and technically in Berlin.
(Here you can find Part I and Part II of the IFA news for reading.)
The dominance of Chinese companies is increasing, not only in the smartphone sector. For audio products, the Chinese manufacturer NEON electronic is now represented in the capital. Although he has been active in the Asian market for 20 years, the South Chinese are only now venturing into Europe.
In Berlin, NEON surprises with its unusual design that appeals to both nostalgics and hipsters. The company presents its products in Hall 1.2, Stand 120, under the motto “Tube and Retro”.
The small Bluetooth speaker NEON MS135 looks at first glance like a mix of gramophone and toaster. But behind the gramophone-like gooseneck hides a galvanized horn speaker. The case is made of real wood. The speaker has a lot of technology: analog FM and digital DAB + radio, jack input and alarm function. In the mini version MS135 you have to do without the front display.
The retro compact system NEON MCB815 also relies on a wooden form factor. In addition to CDs, MP3 tracks can be played. A USB port and Bluetooth option provide the right extension, if you prefer streaming.
For jacket wearer
Hall 1.2, Booth 214, features the Danish hi-fi specialist Libratone, which has been offering many interesting solutions since 2009 in the speaker but also in the headphone market. Especially over the speakers of the Libratone ZIPP family is not laid the mantle of silence …
Already in the first version Libratone offered the ZIPP with different colored sheaths made of fabric. Depending on your preference, you can zipper the zipper around the speaker. And an integrated loop allows transport from room to room.
This is no different with the two new models: ZIPP 2 and ZIPP MINI 2 not only offer 360-degree all-round sound, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, but also the connection to Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant, the Commands but also controls the playback. Very important for Apple users: Also AirPlay2 support ZIPP 2 and its smaller brother ZIPP Mini 2. So you can connect several devices that then play in different rooms always the same music. The starting date for the new ZIPPs is October. The prices are already known (249 euros for the mini 2, 299 euros for the big ZIPP 2).
For the design museum
Denmark against Denmark. Middle class against style. If you are looking for more stylish and exquisite speakers, you will be switching to Stand 218 in Hall 1.2. Bang & Olufsen is also from Denmark, but the HiFi forge was founded in 1925, much earlier than competitor Libratone.
With the classic BeoPlay series, B & O, the nickname, recently also romped in the Libratone price segment. The new BeoSound 1 and BeoSound 2, however, cost a whopping 1500 or 2000 euros. Multiroom sound and voice control are also the focus here. The Google Assistant is integrated with smart home tasks. With favorites buttons certain features can be activated quickly by pressing a button on the device itself. The battery lasts up to 12 hours depending on the model. From September, this music and almost design object will be on sale: in silver and bronze.
For the millimeter diet
Acer is targeting the thin MacBook with 12 “display in Hall 12, Booth 108. In Berlin, the company shows the world’s” thinnest notebook “, called” Swift 7. “The magnesium-lithium housing and the almost borderless screen with a frame of only 4.27 millimeters at 8.9 millimeters height to make the difference compared to Apple, so could also reduce the housing dimensions, although the display size itself remained the same.
Apart from an Intel Core i7 of the 8th generation, nothing was yet to be learned about the specs. Even the price and the start date remain secret. Only in 2019 it should be ready. Well possible that Apple with a refresh of his MacBook series Acer but preemptive. Because both in September, as well as in October is to be expected with new MacBooks, both the Air model and the Pro series.
